Indiana Great Clips Salons and AdoptAClassroom.org Partner for Third Year to Support Teachers

100 Great Clips Indiana Locations Fundraising for Local Teachers

INDIANAPOLIS —  July 12, 2018 — Teachers are preparing to go back to school. Purchasing classroom supplies is always a top priority – and often a financial burden for teachers. For the third year, Great Clips Indiana has partnered with AdoptAClassroom.org to help ease the burden. By generating awareness and raising funds for local teachers, Great Clips is helping teachers in Indiana purchase the school supplies they need to create a dynamic classroom environment where their students can learn and succeed.

This back-to-school season*, when customers in Indiana visit a participating** Great Clips and donate $1 or more, they will receive a coupon for a $9.99 haircut to use at their next visit. It’s a great value for customers, and it helps Indiana teachers at the same time. Last year, Great Clips Indiana supported 118 local teachers.

Declining education budgets and the fact that over half (51%) of America’s children in public schools live in poverty means teachers are filling the gap by buying classroom supplies with money out of their own pockets.

▪       99% of teachers purchase basic school supplies for their students who families are unable to afford them.

▪       Two-thirds of all classroom supplies are purchased by teachers out of their own pockets.

▪       On average, teachers spend $600 of their own money every year on supplies for their classroom. Nearly 20% of teachers spend more than $1000 annually.

Inadequate classroom resources threaten the future success of our children. Donations help ensure that all students have an equal opportunity to access the tools they need to learn and thrive in school, regardless of their resources at home.

Tim Lawson, CEO and Managing Partner of Great Clips salons across Indiana is focused on helping teachers this back to school season. “Over the last two years our partnership with AdoptAClassroom.org has directly impacted more than 250 classrooms in Indiana, and we can’t wait to do more,” said Lawson. “We’re delighted to offer special pricing and another opportunity for our team members and guests to support the teachers in their community.  You get to look good and feel good – It’s a win-win for everyone.”

Since 2016, Indiana Great Clips and their customers have raised nearly $90,000 to benefit 282 classrooms and more than 7,000 students in their local communities.
