Social Media Toolkit: Holiday Fundraising Edition

Nearly 1/3 of annual giving happens in December, so now is the perfect time to fundraise for your classroom. Not sure where to start? We created an easy to follow social media toolkit for holiday fundraising.

Check out these fundraising tips:

1. Update your classroom page

Your needs during the back-to-school shopping season might be different from your end of semester supply needs. Update your classroom page so potential donors see what you and your students need right now.

Make sure to update your school address if you recently moved on to a different school so that donors in your community can find you if they’re looking for a local teacher.

Remember! Only active classrooms are listed for our donors. Make sure you’re logging in regularly.

2. Make a specific ask

Donors LOVE supporting fun and interesting projects. If you’re fundraising to provide your students with a unique project or experience, explain exactly what you’ll do with the donations you receive and the impact it will have on your students.

3. Show the need

Create a sense of urgency by telling donors why it’s important that your classroom is funded this holiday season.

Did your students use all of your classroom’s back-to-school consumables? Was your classroom or community struck by a disaster? Do you have students coming to class without a coat, hat, or gloves during the winter? Make it clear to your audience that your classroom needs funding TODAY!

4. Take part in our holiday hashtag

Use social media to tell donors what supplies your students need to learn and succeed. The #MyHolidayWish toolkit below is a great way to illustrate why your student’s need is relevant NOW.

Step #1: Personalize your post

Message Idea: Tell your followers what your students need for the next semester, (the materials that you normally have to purchase with your own funds), and include a link to your AdoptAClassroom.org page.

Example: #MyHolidayWish is for my students to have access to books that will interest them. My students read through most of the chapter books in my classroom library and we are running out of material that interests them to finish the year. You can help my students learn and succeed with a donation towards our classroom library: (add your link from AdoptAClassroom.org)
