Ann Pifer Named Executive Director of

We’re kicking off our 20th anniversary with a BIG announcement! is thrilled to announce Ann Pifer as our new executive director. Pifer has served as our organization’s chief operating officer since 2013, spearheading our headquarters move to Minnesota. As a predominately virtual organization, Pifer has been instrumental in advancing our technological capabilities to ensure that we are well positioned for future growth. The board of directors believes Pifer is well suited to lead the organization as we enter our next 20 years.

“Ann Pifer is the clear choice to fill the role of executive director,” said Board Chair Doug Spong. “We’re confident that with Ann’s leadership will be in good hands.”

Prior to joining, Ann spent 15 years as a corporate banker managing relationships with big-name clients such as UPS, Home Depot, Automatic Data Processing, Darden Restaurants, Gillette, and Delta Airlines. Ann left the corporate world to pursue her passion for helping dedicated teachers who spend their own money on classroom supplies to ensure their students can learn and succeed.

“I’m excited to take on this new role in our organization,” said Pifer. “I am fortunate to have the support of a dedicated board of directors and staff committed to our mission, but there’s much work to be done. The average U.S. teacher continues to spend $600 of their own money on classroom supplies each year, and 20 percent spend more than $1,000. That’s just not right. will continue our work to improve the access to classroom supplies, and equity in education, for as long as it’s needed.”

In 2018, celebrates 20 years of connecting donors to classrooms in need. Since 1998, we’ve raised more than $35 million in support of teachers and their students.

Help us make our 20th year a great one by joining us in putting teachers first! Donate to the Teachers First Fund today.
